Title: What is WebPine's intended purpose and when should I use it? Question: There are lots of email options; I'm confused about which program to use. Is WebPine preferred over other options? Answer: While WebPine is supported by Computing & Communications, it is not designed to replace any other email programs. We continue to recommend and support desktop email programs (Thunderbird, Mozilla Mail, Macintosh OS-X Mailer, PC-Pine and Outlook Express) as well as running Pine on the Uniform Access computers via a secure connection. You should use those options when you can. WebPine is designed for use by those who are traveling or away from their own desktop computers and for people with pretty light duty email needs. Doing email via the Web imposes limitations on speed and functionality. For information about all the different email options supported by Computing & Communications, see www.washington.edu/computing/email In addition, there may be other options supported in your department.
