Title: How do I change my UW NetID?
Question:
How can I change my UW NetID established for access to UW computing
services such as dial-in access and an email account?
Answer:
A UW NetID used by an individual usually may not be changed. If there are
special circumstances which you feel require that your UW NetID be
changed, contact Computing & Communications Information (C&CI) at
206-543-5970, 8 am - 5 pm, Mon-Fri, to see what can be done.
If the UW NetID is used for a Supplemental Account, please give C&CI a
call to change it.
Some examples of special circumstances which may justify a change to an
individual's UW NetID include:
o To more closely resemble the information in the official payroll or
student databases, in the case of a name change or if your current UW
NetID does not resemble your name and you'd like it to. Legal name
changes must happen on those databases first, via your payroll
coordinator or the registrar.
o To protect customers who are dealing with harassment issues.
o To alleviate delivery conflicts (e.g. 'sally' wishes to add her last
initial to avoid receiving mail for every 'sally' at the UW).
