Title: How do I deal with difficult to remove files?

Question:
Somehow I've gotten some files on my account that seem to have peculiar
characters as part of their file names. How can I delete a file with some
special characters in the file name?

Answer:
There are several ways to deal with this problem. This solution works on
the Uniform Access Unix computers and uses a "file browser" utility which
you may be familiar with as one of the functions within the Pine email
program.

The File Browser Method
-----------------------

On Homer/Dante, you can access the file browser by first selecting
"O - other" then "B - browse" from the menu. On Mead or Goodall at
the Unix shell prompt you can use the command "pilot".

You'll then have a UW PILOT screen listing the files and directories found
in the home directory of your account. Use the necessary keys to move to
the problem file. (Use "V [View]" if you need to move to a subdirectory.)
Once the file is chosen, use "D Delete" to delete the file.
