Title: Can I use a desktop email program to read my UW email? Question: Can I use a desktop email program, such as PC-Pine, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird and the like, to read my UW email? Answer: UW computing systems allow the use of desktop email programs using either the IMAP or POP mail server protocols to read UW email. Computing & Communications supports the PC-Pine, Outlook Express and Mozilla Thunderbird programs distributed with the UW Internet Connectivity Kit (UWICK). We do not have resources to support other desktop email programs, though you can configure them on your own as long as they support standard Internet mail protocols like IMAP, POP, SSL, and SMTP.
