UW Whitepages Directory

The UW Whitepages Directory provides data via LDAP directly to a wide variety of email clients (e.g. Pine, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc to search for email addresses), and also to custom written directory applications such as the Web Directory and Nebula’s UW Directory.   It has traditionally been visible-to-the-world and contained only "contact data": name, department, phone, email, etc.  We recently added UWNetIDs (to some entries, but not all), and offer access to those via a separate access-controlled web page. The whitepages directory has been in production since about 1997 and will likely be available for a very long time.  Whitepages data updates are performed once a day.

  • Unix command-line ‘staffdir’ and ‘studentdir’ application:    current version is always available on UA systems such as homer and dante.  It is a perl script you can read/copy on those systems, or read it here
