Directory ServicesUW Person DirectoryThe EDS Person directory will be the primary access method for the next generation of Person Registry data. This will include (in its full release) both white-pages type data, and more infrastructure-oriented data, such as whatami now provides, derived from source systems. Access to the EDS is provided primarily to application systems, not direct to end-users, and it requires an request for access to be submitted and approved. The EDS may eventually provide access to other kinds of data, such as groups, account data, etc, some of which is now served via special-purpose directories, and some of which is served by other kinds of information services. Authentication will be required and access to data will be restricted based on requested / assigned privilege level(s).
