Overview
UW Enterprise Directory Services (EDS) publish institutional data via
standard LDAP protocols. They are designed to be secure, scalable,
standards-based, and have no scheduled downtime.
More than a collection of directories, EDS also includes supporting
software and documentation which help developers to design and write
applications and to publish data into the directories for others to
use.
Usage
Developers can retrieve data with supported EDS client libraries and
components or with standard LDAP software. Access to sensitive data is
restricted to authorized clients and requires an authenticated, encrypted
connection.
Source data providers with institutional data of enterprise interest
can use EDS as a data publication service. EDS supports real-time updates,
quick access, and authorization as required by the source data policy.
