R856: Intermediate Adobe InDesign

Description:

The Introduction to InDesign course, techniques for creating a basic multi-page document were the foundation. In this course, you will build upon those skills, learning more about manipulating text, pictures, and pages. You will employ methods for formatting text efficiently, for creating and editing graphics with Adobe\R InDesign\R, and for making and modifying layouts quickly.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Base master pages on others; and apply master pages to multiple pages
  • Decide whether to retain formatting, base styles on one another; and import and redefine styles
  • Position graphics so they flow within text; control composition, hyphenation, and justification; track and kern types; and scale text frames
  • Drag items between document windows; import files from various formats; and store and retrieve items in libraries
  • Edit paths; create compound paths; edit clipping paths; and convert text to outlines
  • Create sections to change page numbering within a document; and navigate in a sectioned document
  • Create a table of contents; create an index; and create a book consisting of multiple documents
  • Save print presets; and work with printing color separation
  • Import XML tags and apply them to document content; and import XML into a document's layout placeholders and into a blank document

Prerequisite:

R855: Introduction to Adobe InDesign and R867: Introduction to Adobe Photoshop or equivalent experience.
