Tiger Advantage Drawings: Mouse Drawing

The Caged Mouse was another challenging drawing. This project proceeded faster than expected because it is mostly composed of straight lines. CorelDRAW was used for the Caged Mouse.

The first step was to scan the image into Photoshop and then import to CorelDRAW. After this, it was resized it to fit the working window.

A useful tool in completing the drawing was the freehand tool. The freehand tool provides the capability to draw freehanded over an image. The original image was divided into sections and then the freehand tool was used the image. Then by double clicking on the line, the curve and the length of the line can be changed. This was a very long process because small sections were worked on at a time and effort was made to match the background image.

When outlining was complete, the scanned image was deleted from the background. Then additional elements were added to the picture such as text as well as thickness to the main lines and curves. The most challenging part of working with such an image is deciding what to add or leave out of the drawing. The hardest part of working with such an image was being able to show that the mouse is inside the cage.

In the original image the mouse was not identified but in the Corel drawing we identified the mouse with text because the drawing of the mouse is an unusual outline that isn't easily identified. The line thickness was altered so that heavier lines indicated the outline of the box and thinner lines are inside.
