ATL Quickstart: Inspiration for Windows

Inspiration is a visual development tool for creating written materials, ideas and plans, using a process called Concept Mapping. Ideas can be produced and organized using a graphical Diagram View and easily converted to a formal outline. Inspiration can assist with the organization process of a wide variety writing projects.

Starting Inspiration

  1. Click the Start Button on the Window taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click on the AT Applications folder.
  3. Click on the Inspiration 5 icon.

Navigating Inspiration

The two main views one can utilize with Inspiration are the Diagram view and the Outline view. The Diagram view lets you organize and position any of your ideas that your are working with into a sensible structure that is similar to a flowchart. Text can be attached to the graphical elements and different shapes and colors can be used to identify the hierarchy of different elements. Use the icons and menu items to add, arrange, and edit your Idea bubbles. The Outline view enables you to examine the information that you have laid out with the standard outline format. Use the <CTRL> + <T> key combination to toggle between the Diagram and Outline views.

Quitting Inspiration

From the File Menu, select Exit, or press the <CTRL> + <Q> key combination.
