Draft plan proposes deletion of Redmond-Kirkland Leg of ST 540

The Draft 2007 Service Implementation Plan, Sound Transit’s annual planning tool for the development of ST Express bus, Sounder Commuter Rail and Tacoma Link Light Rail service, is now on-line and available for public comment.

The plan includes several proposals for route changes—one of which will eliminate the Redmond-Kirkland leg of route 540.
To find out more about the proposed changes go to the Sound Transit web site http://www.soundtransit.org/x1195.xml

You can let Sound Transit know how you feel about the proposed changes by attending the public hearing for the 2007 Service Implementation Plan on November 16, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. – noon.

Unleash Your U-PASS with Community Transit

It’s no secret that UPASS encourages UW employees to mix up their commute—driving only when they have to and choosing transit and other sustainable options whenever they can. Associate Professor of Communications Anthony Chan mixes-it-up with a broad stroke. Professor Chan has been commuting from Lynnwood for 15 years and he makes his commute decisions one quarter at a time.

Chan’s preferred commute looks something like this-- He drives to the Lynnwood Transit Center, eases into a comfy seat on a Community Transit 855 bus, then sits back to let the driver take him the rest of the way to work. “The transit center in Lynnwood is state of the art,” he said. Though parking can be tight, Chan says, if he arrives by 7 a.m., he has no problems parking and catching his bus for the 30 minute ride in to campus.

Chan is not the only “smart dawg” at his house. His daughter was a Community Transit commuter while she was a student at the University of Washington. Good commute choices must run in the family.

This quarter Professor Chan is teaching evening classes, so he is more likely to come to campus in his car. But, for convenience, timeliness and easy parking close to home, Chan looks forward to next quarter when he can have it all again thanks to his U-PASS and Community Transit.
