4th Annual Spring Walk In Starts May 1

Walk to work. Walk at lunch. Walk to meetings. Win prizes.

The fourth annual Spring Walk In is here! It is time to get motivated and lace up your tennies. The 2006 Walk In Campaign is designed to get you out on your feet and then reward you for the effort. Participants earn points for commute walks to campus, walks to meetings, lunch walks, and Walk In activities. Totals are posted online weekly and individuals and teams that finish with the highest number of points will be rewarded at the luncheon celebration in June.

Walk In graphicYou can register as an individual or as part of a team. Or you can sign up as a captain and start your very own team.

When you recruit 3 new walkers you earn a recruitment prize including a Walk In backsack, a pedometer, and a blinking safety light.

Starting May 1, be on the lookout for fellow Walk In participants sporting the Walk In lanyard and tally card, or the canvas Walk In backsack. Walk together and turn your walk into a social occasion.

Put a note on your calendar to meet the Walk In gang at the Drumheller fountain every Monday in May for the lunchtime Walk of the Week. Earn points while you learn something new--look on the map for the week's Campus Clues location and walk by on your way to a meeting.

"One thing that's stuck me the last several mornings is how people say "hello" as I walk by. Maybe it's because they're shocked to see somebody walking to work or somebody who makes eye contact with them and thus they feel compelled to respond. In any case, I find it very refreshing and spirit-lifting"
--Bob Shupe,
Fall 2005 "Most Walks" and "Most Points" winner
