Construction and Bus Service Re-Routes
May Impact Your Commute
Stevens Way to Close June 12, 2006
Work on Stevens Way--the continuation of a project that has been under way since 2000--will begin June 12 and continue until August 18, 2006. New pavement roadway and pedestrian walkways will be installed from Pend Oreille Road (by Padelford) to approximately the Art Building.
On June 12, that section of Stevens Way will be closed to motorists and pedestrians to allow the contractor work daily from 1 to 10 p.m. to demolish the existing roadbed, sidewalks and utilities. Following demolition, the contractor will install new water, storm, and sewer lines; and install new 10 inch thick, asphalt concrete pavement and sidewalks along with landscape restoration.
Many bus routes will be altered during the construction period including:
- Community Transit--all buses will be routed off-campus
- Metro--Routes 31, 65, 75, 76, 68 and 372 will not change.
- Metro buses 205, 272, 277 and 373 and all Community Transit buses will use stops on 15th Avenue NE and on NE Pacific Street as their main pick-up and drop-off locations.
Questions about the project can be directed to Ivan Turner at 206-221-4382.
