August Resource Fair Encouraged Commuters to Mix it Up

On August 10th, staff from across campus took a little time away from their normal duties to come to the HUB Ballroom and learn more about campus resources and services. U-PASS was there encouraging people to mix up their commute by including walking, biking, busing and carpooling whenever they can. Employees were asked to make a pledge to try a different commute mode at least once before the start of October. Their completed pledge cards served as entries into drawings and a winner was chosen in each of four categories--bus riders, carpoolers, walkers, and bicyclists. Prizes ranged from free bike locker rental for one year to a free quarter's U-PASS. Commuters could also take advantage of the opportunity to try the bus on us with a free ticket to ride on Metro. It was a busy day and lots of people were willing to try something different--nearly 500 individuals took the pledge to mix up their commute. If you were one of them, tell us how it worked for you. Email us at upass@u.washington.edu, We'd love to hear your story.
