Transit Ridership Between 1990 and 1998, Metro has estimated that total campus ridership grew from 4.7 million to 8 million annual trips, a 73 percent increase.  Ten percent of all trips taken in 1998 on Metro and Community Transit were taken by a U-PASS holder. When the U-PASS was implemented in 1991, Metro added 57,000 annual hours of new service over an 18 month period and Community Transit added almost 3,000 annual hours.
