BicyclingBicycling is an important part of the U-PASS program. To encourage the use of bicycles as a commute mode and to better serve the needs of bicyclists, a Bicycle Advisory Group (BAG) comprised of faculty, staff and students was first appointed in 1994. The BAG was reappointed in 1995, and a work plan was adopted that emphasizes bicycle safety concerns.Since the start of the U-PASS program, more than $600,000 has been spent for improved bicycle facilities and programs. The UW has more than 700 bicycle racks with a capacity of 5,600 bikes. The UW also rents 346 bike locker spaces--a very popular program. Waiting lists were minimized during 1997-98 with the purchase of 43 lockers (86 spaces).
