Discount daily parking passes are available to U-PASS participants for $1.75 each. Faculty and staff without a U-PASS can also purchase the passes but pay $3.00 per ticket. The parking passes allow faculty and staff to park on campus an average of twice a week without having to pay full parking rates ($6.00). In 1996-97, 117,800 U-PASS parking passes and 42,800 non-U-PASS parking passes were sold. This feature of the program has been an important incentive for faculty and staff to turn in their SOV permits and give the U-PASS a try. The average number of times the passes are used has increased slightly but remains well below the allowed twice per week maximum.
