Because the transportation needs of faculty and staff are usually different from those of students, they are eligible for discount daily parking passes.
Discount Daily Parking Passes
Discount daily parking passes are available to U-PASS participants for $1.50 each. Faculty and staff without a U-PASS can also purchase the passes but pay $2.50 per ticket. The parking passes allow faculty and staff to park on campus an average of twice a week without having to pay full parking rates ($5.00). In 1995-96, 114,000 U-PASS parking passes and 37,000 non-U-PASS parking passes were sold. This feature of the program has been an important incentive for faculty and staff to turn in their SOV permits and give the U-PASS a try. The average number of times the passes are used has increased slightly but remains well below the allowed twice per week maximum.
