1995-96 U-PASS Results
The U-PASS is an innovative transportation management program that offers a complete package of flexible transportation benefits at a very low price. The U-PASS makes using alternative commute modes a smart and easy choice for the more than 52,000 University of Washington students, faculty and staff.
The U-PASS began in 1991 as a partnership between the University and the two local transit agencies, Metro and Community Transit. Initially instituted as a three-year demonstration project, the U-PASS was designed to meet a number of goals: 1) provide better transportation services to University commuters; 2) decrease the number of vehicle trips and in turn the need to replace lost parking with new parking facilities; 3) achieve a 75 percent U-PASS participation rate; and 4) mitigate potential traffic and parking impacts of University growth.
Although this report covers the period September 27, 1995 - September 26, 1996, information gathered in October 1996 from the biennial transportation survey as well as certain other data collected autumn quarter 1996 is included if available and when applicable.
