Parking is complimentary when gatehouses are closed with the exception of E1 where there is no overnight parking and any campus lots that have signs that restrict the lot's use at "all times on all days" to particular permit holders. Certain large events such as home football games and events at Meany and Kane Halls that have large audiences (particularly affecting the Central Plaza Garage) may also affect campus parking and/or require a special event fee.

Visitors may obtain parking permits and campus information from campus gatehouse Traffic Guides between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Lower-cost parking is available after 4 p.m. weekdays, on Saturday mornings in most lots, and at all times in several campus lots, including Montlake lots E1, E3 and E4.

Parking Services provides commuter products to the university community and its visitors. We are a self-sustaining organization responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of Seattle campus parking facilities. The exceptions are the Triangle Garage and the Surgery Pavilion Garage which are administered by the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC).

Campus gatehouses are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays. At these times all vehicles parking on campus are required to pay for parking and/or have a valid parking permit or belong to a parking program such as Pay-Per-Use-Parking (PPUP). Complimentary parking is provided in many parking areas before and after gatehouse hours. All parking at the University of Washington on any given day is provided on a space-available basis.

Parking Services uses revenue from parking fees to maintain and develop parking facilities and services and to support Transportation Office programs such as the U-PASS program. Parking fees, parking fines and campus transportation policies are periodically reviewed by the University Transportation Committee (UTC) comprised of representatives from the student body, faculty and staff. Parking fees and fines are approved by the Board of Regents.

Parking Services provides a range of parking options to faculty, staff, students, departments, visitors and guests. These options include Single Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) Permits for day, night and swing shift users, Individual Commuter Tickets (ICTs) and Daily-Pay Parking. We also sell U-PASS stickers to faculty and staff for public transit trips. In addition, faculty/staff U-PASS holders may purchase reduced-fee Individual Commuter Tickets for occasional parking on campus. Faculty/staff may also participate in the Pay-Per-Use-Parking (PPUP) Program which reduces the number of single-occupancy-vehicle commute trips to campus by providing an incentive for not driving on a daily basis. PPUP is an enrollment program currently used in the West Campus Garage.

Because Parking Services is committed to reducing the number of vehicles on campus during peak periods, it offers Carpool Permits to faculty/staff U-PASS holders who meet specific requirements. “Occasional” carpooling is also provided to students and faculty/staff U-PASS holders. Occasional carpools, both gatehouse issued and Montlake E1 carpools, require the minimum number of carpool members to each have a valid U-PASS and money in a Husky Card Account (each person must have sufficient funds available at least 24-hours before parking). Husky Card Account debits are required. No cash is accepted as payment for this type of parking.
