Experimental Education Unit (EEU) Parking Options

Please read carefully. The University of Washington strictly enforces its parking policies.

For parents dropping off or picking up a child

Gratis 30 Minute Child Drop Off/Pick Up Permit

• Stop at the gatehouse, identify yourself as an EEU parent and request a 30-minute Child Drop Off permit.
• You may park for up to 30 minutes in 1) any Unrestricted parking area in S-1 (an unrestricted area is one without a sign limiting parking to a specific type of permit holder); or 2) a designated load zone, west of the CHDD; or 3) in the EEU Parent Lot at the east end of the building (30-miute limit).
• With this permit, and during times when buses are not arriving to load or unload children, you may park for up to 30 minutes in the bus load zone. (See restricted times below.)
• During student load/unload times, if there is room, you may stop at the red curb in the traffic circle in front of the bus load zone (there is room for a few cars at a time). Do not stop in the bus load zone in front of the EEU during times when buses are arriving or loading and unloading children. The buses are required to park bumper-to-bumper during loading and unloading, for the children's safety. There may be 5-6 buses during these times:
  • 8:30-9:15
  • 10:45-11:15
  • 12:00-1:15
  • 2:00-3:15

Do not leave your car at any time in the traffic circle (RED ZONE). You may be required to move your car to allow an emergency vehicle or bus to pass.

Parking Permit with Partial Refund

• Effective July 1, 2006, EEU parents or visitors should pay on entry by cash or MasterCard/Visa. (Checks are not accepted).
• Stop at the gatehouse on Columbia Road at UWMC and purchase a parking permit [The fee is $11.00 on weekdays from 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; and $5.00 on weekdays from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m.-noon; sales and city parking taxes included in all fees]
• Place the permit on your vehicle's dashboard so it is clearly visible.
• EEU parents may request parking in S-1, close to the building.
• If your stay is less than 4 hours, stop at the gate as you leave for a partial refund.

For entrance after 8:00 pm Mon.-Fri. and after 11am Sat.: FLAT RATE ($3.00) no refunds.

Parking Permit with full refund

(Please use this method for all parent-teacher conferences, such as IEP and IFSP, and Parent Network and Parent Council Meetings.)

• Buy a parking permit at the gatehouse (See permit pricing on other side). Prorated refunds are on cash payments only). EEU Parents may request parking in S-1, close to the building.
• Place the permit on your vehicle's dash so it clearly visible.
• Pick up a validation coupon at the front desk or from your child's teacher or the Principal before returning to your car.
• At your car, place the coupon on the back of your parking permit.
• Present the validated permit to the traffic guide as you leave. EEU will be charged and you will receive a full refund. Please note: the refund can only be issued on the same day/date the gatehouse issued the permit.
• Refunds are not available for entrance after 8:00 p.m. weekdays or after 11 a.m. Saturdays.

Notice to parents:

EEU welcomes your participation in your child's classroom and in parent activities and does not want the cost of parking to limit your participation. Please contact the EEU Admissions office at (206) 221-4036 if you any questions or concerns about parking.

Remember, do not stop your car in the bus load zone during these hours:

• 8:30-9:15
• 10:45-11:15
• 12:00-1:15
• 2:00-3:15

At other times, with either a Drive-Through, 30-minute Load Zone or Parking permit, you may park in the bus load zone for up to 30 minutes. You may stop for pick-up or drop-off at red curb in the traffic circle, if there is room, but do not leave your car.
