Inspired by the easy suggestions in the brochure for navigating around the neighborhoods, map users can pick bus routes to reach parks and playgrounds, see where the nearest bus stop is located, estimate how long it will take to walk to a nearby market or video rental store, or map out a cross-neighborhood bike route for commuting or recreation. Phone numbers and web links help make it easy for map users to access any extra information they might need to get around the University District and north Capitol Hill areas by bus, bike, or on foot.
King County Metro Transit and the University of Washington Transportation Office, in partnership, developed the map concept, researched and compiled neighborhood resources and transportation options, and designed the brochure. KCGIS Center Client Services consulted on the map design and applied its established GIS-to-print workflow to create the finished map artwork with Metro staff.
