UW mechanical engineering students paddled to the finish line at Seafair’s Milk Carton Derby in what they believe is the world’s first boat made with a 3-D printer.


UW first with credit courses on massive online platform

In addition to joining a national venture this week to offer free on-line courses, the UW has announced it will be the first university in the U.S. to  provide fee-based credit for some of the courses using a new online learning platform.

New fund will spur university startups

The new “W Fund” will use $20 million of venture capital to help launch promising start-ups spinning out of the University of Washington and other research institutions both locally and across the state.
