Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom Project
Voices of the Jazz Era Ballroom is a grassroots, web-based oral history project devoted to passing on the memory of music and dance in the jazz years through the lives and words of everyday people. This evolving multimedia archive using the new Omeka platform, is created simultaneously through new oral history research by its founder, and contributions by the public. This project is a hopeful experiment that seeks to enable a young dance community to come together through the power of technology to preserve and make meaningful the stories of their elders. Simultaneously it seeks to explore new ways to create, preserve and curate digital collections through social technology. This project is very grateful for the support of oral historian Ron Chew, and Dr. Kris Morrissey for their support.
