WHYDOMATH -- Mathematics and the Brain
A 3 minute video gives a fast answer to the perennial question: WHYDOMATH? Mathematical thinking is helping to uncover the structure and function of the brain. This is a message that CARTAH will help share with educators and students worldwide, by creating one of the online lead-in videos for the WHYDOMATH project of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). This video will be the introduction to the neuroscience node of the WHYDOMATH website, which will present the role of mathematics in a key historical discovery in neuroscience, and where this discovery has taken us today.
