(working) Seattle Hip Hop and Jazz: How racial groups share
culture
This project is a short documentary approximately 15-30 minutes long which will focus on race relations in Seattle through Hip Hop. It will show Jazz as a pretext and parallel for Hip Hop and the change in racial interaction from the early days of Seattle Jazz to the current era of Hip Hop. A main focus of this video will be the question of authority over an art form/cultural product and how these cultural interactions are shared, used, or appropriated between racial categories ~V and what that means for the personal and relational dynamics for everyone involved. The video will include interviews with local historians, academics, musicians, performers and artists as well as footage of performances, concerts and Jazz and Hip Hop taking place in various places in Seattle.
