Fin-de-siecle silent film project
The project is a specific historical study of the fin-de-siecle films made by figures such as William Dickson/Thomas Edison in America and Auguste Lumiere and Georges Melies in France. Several teams will work separately to design, stage, and shoot short films subjects that recreate the 'historical' period of cinema's birth with the technology (digital video) available at this turn of the century. All editing will be done 'in-camera,' following the stop-motion photography techniques perfected by early magic film shows.
