As a participant, you may:

  • Break out into mini-workshops given by your peer subject matter experts on topics such as East African cultural responsiveness, volunteer management best practices, and developing your anti-oppression lens.
  • Learn more about our work and the possibilities for campus-community connections

The Carlson Center and our UW faculty partners are hosting this event to bring together community host organizations who are engaged in service learning and community-based internships. We are hosting this convening in response to the focus group feedback we received from a group of our community partners last summer. That group asked for space for community leaders to connect with each other, and to share lessons, questions, and resources about making the most of their work with UW students. We will also use some of this time to answer their request for better communications about students’ academic and personal growth outcomes intended from students’ community-based experiences.

We will serve a warm breakfast, coffee, and lunchtime snacks.
