Kathryn Pursch Cornforth
One of Kathryn’s roles at the Carlson Center is to incorporate students into the work of community partner organizations, while coordinating with UW faculty and staff to integrate service learning opportunities into their coursework. She challenges students to critically reflect on what service means to them personally and how they can leverage experiences to explore career options.
Her favorite spots on campus are classic: the Reading Room in Suzzallo Library, the Quad while seasons are changing, and the Mary Gates Commons with tables full of students working together. Kathryn welcomes conversations about raising chickens, baking a cake from scratch, and finding a volunteer gig that connects to a larger interest in your life.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
