Public service opportunity: Childcare Volunteer

Position title: Seeking volunteers to help with childcare

Name of organization: Neighborhood House

Position description: Neighborhood House is currently offering a Ready to Work ESL class at our High Point Center in West Seattle. Many students from the program have children of their own and are unable to attend class unless they can find childcare. Here’s where you come in!

Program hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-12:30pm. Volunteers can choose their hours within these times. The children are aged 0-5 years, so it would be ideal to have volunteers who have some previous experience working with this age group, or at least an interest in working with kids this age.

We do have one paid staff person who will be overseeing any diaper/toileting and feeding needs of the children, so really the volunteer role is to just to play with the kids, and to be an extra pair of eyes in the room, making sure all kids are safe and engaged in positive activities.

If you’re interested in helping, email courtneyj@nhwa.org for more details.
