Position title: Safety Spotter for Special Needs Bike Camp


Name of organization: iCan Bike – Seattle




Position description:

iCan Bike – Seattle needs 90 volunteers to act as safety spotters for individuals with special needs ages 8+ while they are learning to ride a bike. Camp will take place at Magnuson Park – Hangar 30 July 9th – 13th. The program utilizes a fleet of adaptive bicycles and professionally trained staff to teach children to ride a bike. Approximately 80% of children participating in the program are riding independently by the end of the 5-day camp. It is a fun and inspiring week! Riders are assigned a single 75-minute session each day. Spotters jog alongside each rider (2 per child) for safety.


Time commitment:

Volunteers are asked to choose one of the five (5) 75-minute sessions each day and, if possible, volunteer that same time slot for the entire 5-days of camp.


Skill requirements:

Be a minimum of 15 years of age and physically be able to jog alongside the bike during the 75-minute session.
