Position description:

What you will get to do:

  • Work with our youth to provide tutoring and educational assistance, as a main priority.
  • Take opportunities to get to know youth and mentors which might look like art projects, playing board games, sharing jokes or other activities.

 

What you can expect as a Volunteer:

  • Orientation, training and support from the staff
  • Clear expectations and an academic assessment from the youth’s teacher
  • Ongoing evaluations with mentors and educators
  • To be welcomed and respected as part of the team
  • To be valued for your unique abilities and talents

 

Time commitment:

  • Tutoring is frequently requested between 10am and 6pm over the summer and 3pm to 7pm M-TH during the school year.

 

Skill requirements:

Do you have:

  • Willingness and interest in working with school-age children
  • Patience, cultural sensitivity, and good communication skills
  • An ability to relate to youth
  • Problem solving skills
  • Willingness and patience to learn
  • A strong attention to details and accuracy
  • Strong written and organizational abilities
  • A sense of humor

 

Start date:

As soon as possible. Summer and Fall tutoring needed.

 

End date:

Based on volunteer availability.

 

Location:

Near Columbia City. Official address provided upon interview.
