Youth Programs Internship at Hugo House

Hugo House is a portal through which writers connect with the larger literary world, a place that celebrates the most inspiring words of writers from all over the globe. Our programs invite people from all backgrounds into this world of words without borders, and encourage writers to examine our most pressing human concerns.

We are currently seeking a Youth Programs Intern to assist with youth applicant interviews; Assist with program and youth instructor evaluation system; Help prepare for HH youth summer writing camps, Scribes and Spoken Word Camp; Distribute youth programs brochures and information; Special projects as fitting to your interests.

Time commitment: 3 months, 8-10 hrs/week

Minimum Skills Required:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work independently; Strong attention to detail; Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites; Experience working with youth, particularly underserved and diverse youth population (preferably middle and high-school aged youth)

Desired Qualifications:

Photography skills; Transportation to periodically visit schools, libraries and organizations throughout Seattle (personal vehicle or bus; available reimbursement for travel expense)

Internship Timeline: Start in late September. End in mid-December
