UW Technology Data Center Services

UW Technology's professionally managed data centers offer three different services:

Co-location

UW Technology's Co-location Service provides for storing customer-owned hardware (such as a server) in one of UW Technology's physically secure, environmentally controlled data center facilities. UW Technology manages the infrastructure (such as the cooling, power, and network) and customers are responsible for managing their own hardware and software.

UW Technology's standard Co-location Service includes the following:

Based on customer needs and UW Technology's ability to meet those needs, non-standard options (such as a locked cabinet, non-standard rack size, etc.) may also be possible.

Managed Server

With UW Technology's Managed Server Service, UW Technology manages server hardware for customers in a physically secure, environmentally controlled data center facility. A variety of support options are available, ranging from minimally managed (hardware only) to fully managed servers. UW Technology reviews each request with the customer to select a solution that will best match the customer's needs with UW Technology's capabilities.

Data Backup

UW Technology's Data Backup Service provides daily backups of customer data, storing three (3) duplicate copies on tape in separate locations, both on and off campus. Data can be backed up from most areas on or around the main UW campus assuming the site's infrastructure meets, or can be upgraded to meet, the necessary infrastructure requirements of the service.
