PBX Remote Access Forwarding

PBX Remote Access Forwarding (PBX RAF) is a call forwarding feature that permits a telephone number to be redirected to any other telephone number remotely.

To use PBX Remote Access Forwarding, the telephone line must be assigned a personal security code. Please be sure that the Send Calls feature is not active when PBX RAF call forwarding is turned on.

To ACTIVATE call forwarding:

  1. Dial the appropriate access number.
    NOTE: If you need assistance determining the appropriate access number, please call the UW Technology Service Center Center at 206-221-5000 or
    1-800-543-4711.
  2. Listen for dial tone.
  3. Enter *172.
  4. Listen for dial tone.
  5. Enter your 5-digit extension followed by #.
  6. Enter your personal security code followed by #.
  7. Listen for dial tone.
  8. Enter the number to which you are forwarding.
    • Enter 5-digit extension for campus calls
    • Enter 9 + 10-digits for local/RCS calls
    • Enter 9 + 1 + 10-digits for long distance calls
  9. Listen for confirmation tone.
  10. Hang up.

To DEACTIVATE call forwarding:

  1. Dial the appropriate access number.

  2. Listen for dial tone.
  3. Enter *173.
  4. Listen for dial tone.
  5. Enter your 5-digit extension followed by #.
  6. Enter your personal security code followed by #.
  7. Listen for confirmation tone.
  8. Hang up.
