Range in Washington: Cascades and east.
Habitat: Most open habitats.
Diet: Herbivore.
Habitats: Digs burrows with forelimbs and teeth, forages below ground, forms soil mounds.
Identification: Rounded ear with black patch behind. Short tail, heavy jaw bone, big incisors. Total length: 165-230 mm; tail: 40-75 mm; mass: 75-130 g.
