Wooded and open rocky areas.

Herbivore, also fungus.

Hibernates.
Identification:
Body stripes like chipmunks, but no head stripes. Head and shoulders coppery-red.
Total length: 25-30 cm; tail: 6-12 cm; mass: 175-275 g.
