Family Fun at Bug Blast!
Sun., Sept. 20, 10 am - 4 pm

Bugs of all kinds will be taking over the Burke Museum when one of the most popular annual family events returns—Bug Blast! This year, on September 20, families can wiggle and buzz along with Seattle musician Nancy Stewart as she sings about our buggy friends. Stewart's "Bee Boppin' Bugs" concert is packed with fun facts about all of your favorite insects. Spend the rest of the day seeing, touching, and even tasting bugs of all varieties, featuring thousands of bugs from the Burke's collection and amateur collectors.

Throughout the day, enjoy hands-on activities geared to all ages: wear special bug-eye glasses, make your own "ugly bug" at the craft table, check out tiny bugs through a microscope, and watch glassed-in ant and honeybee colonies hard at work. Gain a new perspective on the life of a bug as you enjoy close-up interactions with butterflies, tarantulas and other spiders, beetles, bees, and bug-eating plants. And back by popular demand, have your face painted by our team of buggy artists.

Bug Blast is presented by Scarabs: The Bug Society. Scarabs members will be available to help you identify your own bug collections and answer questions. Entrance to this family event is included with museum admission. Purchase or renew a Burke Museum family membership at Bug Blast and save $5 off the price of the membership. Admission is free to Burke members.
