Fungi Fun at Mushroom Maynia!
Sun., May 3, 10 am - 4 pm

How do I know if a mushroom is poisonous or not? Do I need a permit to harvest mushrooms in Washington State? How do mushrooms help my garden? Curious fungi fanatics looking for answers to these questions and more are invited to attend the second annual Mushroom Maynia! event at the Burke Museum on Sun., May 3.

The Puget Sound Mycological Society (PSMS) and the Burke Museum present a day dedicated to mushrooms and their important role in many Pacific Northwest ecosystems. Looking for new recipes? Sample mushroom treats and learn how to turn mushrooms of all kinds into tasty meals and snacks. In need of a new craft project? Use dyes and crayons made from mushrooms to create mushroom art. Looking to grow your own mushrooms? Attend a cultivation workshop! Mushroom Maynia! is a family friendly event.

Mycology, the study of fungi, is intimately connected to the studies of forestry, botany, ecology, medicine, and the culinary arts. It is the goal of Puget Sound Mycological Society to keep these connections alive by supporting the natural science of mushrooms.

Mushroom Maynia! is made possible by the Daniel E. Stuntz Memorial Foundation whose mission is to raise awareness of the wonderful world of Fungi.
