Dino Day!

Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007
10 am – 4 pm

Bring the entire family to experience a day filled with activities and awe-inspiring examples of dinosaurs and more! Burke paleontologists will amaze you with fascinating examples of fossils from the Burke's own collections. This year features live demonstrations of a 40 million year old mammal jaw being “prepared” on site.

This year, the Burke teams up with the Pacific Science Center to present Dino Puzzles and Fossil Formations, where kids will explore the world of fossilization by checking out real fossils and creating their own play-dough fossil models, as well as activities that explore the criteria scientists use to define dinosaurs. Information on the Science Center's upcoming Colossal Fossils dinosaur exhibit will also be available.

This year features activities for children of all ages, including the popular Dinosaur Romp Room – where kids dress up with dinosaur body parts in a prehistoric setting and the Touchable Fossils Table for older children. In addition, members of the Northwest Paleontology Association will display fossils from their collections.

Burke paleontologists will bring up bones from the depths of storage to amaze visitors of all ages with the incredible diversity and power of the dinosaur. Look through tables of dinosaur bones and other dinosaur-era vertebrates, invertebrates, plants and minerals. All displays are staffed with the most knowledgeable dinosaur experts in the Pacific Northwest.

This event is free with museum admission.
