Solving fossil puzzles and digging at our simulated indoor fossil dig site are included.

In the "Structures of Life" tour, students investigate how mammals can be suited for wet or dry habitats; how bird beak size and shape correlate to diet; and basic structures in insects and plants native to Washington. Students will also describe and discuss how these structures serve specific functions.

    Education Tour Guided

GUIDED TOURS are a wonderful way to introduce your students to a new topic, to focus in on almost any subject you're exploring in the classroom, or to follow up a unit you've been studying. Guided tours provide a stimulating question/answer format with an experienced docent who has the inside story on the exhibits and issues around them. Students have a chance to handle real artifacts from other cultures, or scientific specimens from the museum's teaching collections. It's the closest thing there is to the exhibit cases opening up before your eyes!

    Group Size: 15-35
Tour Length: 1 hour 15 minutes
    Topics (choose one): Fossils
    Pacific Rim Cultures
    Northwest Coast Art and Culture
Times: Call for available times from 9 am – 3 pm.
