This winter, the Burke Museum launched a new outreach program, Burkemobile.

Mysteries of Ancient Egypt Tours: October 26, 2008
Middle school students and educators discovered the mysteries of Ancient Egypt, including a 3,000-year-old mummy, in these exciting tours.


Día de Muertos: Traditional Arts for Your Classroom Teacher Workshop
Washington State educators got a first-hand look at the traditions of Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Seattle-based Mexican artists, including Isaac Hernández Ruiz, shared their cultural and artistic traditions of this important cultural holiday.

Wetlands Journey Educator Workshop
Twenty-three educators joined the UW Botanic Gardens, Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI), and the Burke Museum to showcase ways to teach and learn about wetlands.


Salmon Homecoming Celebration
Several hundred school children visited the Seattle Aquarium and Waterfront Park on September 12, 2008 to celebrate the return of salmon to the Pacific Northwest.


Educator Open House
More than 80 people took advantage of this relaxed, after-hours event, which included refreshments, hands-on activities, and Education staff to acquaint teachers with Burke Education resources.


Homeschool Day: Feb. 20, 2008
Students of all ages learned about rocks and minerals and the Native People of the Columbia River Plateau in group activities led by Burke Museum educators.

More than 100 students and their families joined us for hands-on learning and activities led by Burke educators.


Washington's Web of Life Teacher Workshop
As snow drifted down on the University of Washington campus, 26 teachers were busy thinking about ways to connect their students to Washington's incredible diversity of life.
