Ron Eng has been the Geology Collections Manager at the Burke Museum since 1991. Ron has worked in university museums for over 24 years. Prior to being at the Burke, he was the Curatorial Associate in the Department of Invertebrate Paleontology of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University. Ron's first museum position was in the Division of Invertebrate Zoology, Peabody Museum of Natural History, Yale University.

As the collections manager, Ron ensures that the specimens in the Geology Division are preserved and accessible for scientific study, exhibition, or other educational use. This includes the many tasks required to maintain intellectual control of the division holdings.

Ron earned a BA in Biology from Boston University and an MS in Invertebrate Zoology form Northeastern University. Ron's interests include evolutionary biology, evolution and ecology of marine invertebrates, marine invertebrate systematics, marine ecology, biological oceanography, and technical photography.

Ron also enjoys the study of rocks, especially field work to perform comparative analysis of the frictional properties of the disparate rock types of mountains in the Pacific Northwest. Ron also likes to analyze the frictional properties of snow and the tensile strength of wintertime ice formations.
