We are pleased to report that in 2007 we have awarded four Bill Holm Center Visiting Research Grants to Aaron Nelson Moody (Squamish), Emily Moore (UC Berkeley), Tommy Joseph (Tlingit), and Mike Webber (Tlingit/Alutiiq).

We encourage non-University of Washington researchers and artists to apply for our Visiting Research Grants by January 15, 2008. These grants will fund visits for artists and researchers to study the Burke Museum's collections.

In November 2004, the National Endowment for the Humanities designated the Bill Holm Center Endowed Research Fund as a "We the People project" for promoting knowledge and understanding of American History and Culture. This award was coupled with a National Endowment for the Humanities Challenge Grant, which provided $300,000 in matching funds for donations to the Bill Holm Center Research Endowment.
