We are pleased to announce that in February 2009, our Web site, The Enduring Power of Totem Poles, received a Grand Gold Communication Award from the CASE District VIII (Council for Advancement and Support of Education)! Click here to view this online exhibit.

We are pleased to report that in 2008 we have awarded six Bill Holm Center Visiting Research Grants to Shgen George (Tlingit, Juneau, AK), Arlene Skinner (N.Cheyenne/Sioux, Kodiak Island, AK), George Bennett, Sr. (Tlingit, Sitka, AK), Jim Heaton (Haines, AK), Felix Solomon (Lummi, Bellingham, WA), and Manuel Salazar (Cowichan, Renton, WA).

Thank you to all the donors whose contributions to the Bill Holm Center endowments have made this research center a reality! While our physical space at the Burke Museum is limited, our Web site is growing.

Congratulations to Bill Holm, who received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, May 11, 2008!
