Joanna Loss is Manager of the Office of Educational Assessment’s course evaluation service, IASystemTM, providing the University of Washington and 40 plus post-secondary institutions with accurate and meaningful course evaluation data. She has directed the day-to-day operations of the course evaluation program for 23 years and has worked with colleagues in maintaining the excellence and quality of the IASystemTM. Joanna consults with institutions nationwide in determining what their needs are for student evaluation and how IASystemTM can provide the optimum in qualitative and quantitative data. The data is used in both helping the instructors to determine what is working and what needs to be improved, and Deans and Chairs in making promotion and tenure decisions. Ms. Loss also believes that these evaluations are an opportunity for students to review their instruction and have a voice in their own education.
Ms. Loss received her B.A. in English from the University of Washington in 2002 and continues to enjoy the fine arts. She believes in encouraging all students to follow their dreams. She promotes equality and fairness in her work with the Diversity and Inclusion Team for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and helps to instruct young adults with the Youth Group at church.
