Come Back to Campus for Washington Weekend
Are you ready to taste some liquid nitrogen ice cream? Make a comet with your bare hands? Check out some world-class art? Then you are invited to attend Washington Weekend, the UW's annual open house at all three campuses that runs from April 24-26, 2008.
This is the opportunity for you and your family to experience everything the UW has to offer: open houses, class reunions, lectures, tours, live entertainment, Husky sporting events and more. Most of the events are free.
Some Highlights for 2008
Explore the Living Oceans: At the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences' open house on Saturday, April 26, you can tour the Research Vessel Thomas G. Thompson, the UW's 274-foot-long, state-of-the-art, ocean-going research vessel that takes researchers all over the world on oceanographic projects. Meet the researchers and learn about what they're looking for when they are out to sea.
Pulp Fact, not Pulp Fiction: Stop by the College of Forest Resources' papermaking demonstration on Friday, April 25. You'll be able to see and feel the pulp before it is made into paper—and you will learn about common and quirky renewable resources that can be used in making paper.
Geeks Under Attack!: Quick, grab your mouse and take cover! Or, find out about the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, where teams of college students will be trying to manage and protect a commercial network infrastructure from an attack by another team. This competition takes place on the Microsoft campus in Redmond—but that will happen after you hear from computer security experts at the UW on the kinds of threats that exist in the cyber world.
And Much More...
Health Sciences Open House, College of Engineering Open House, ArtsLinks performances, Arts Open Houses (art, music, DXArts)... and even more! Check the complete 2008 schedule for details.
