See first-hand what's involved in online security, keeping websites and your online information safe.
The Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (affectionately know as "Geeks Under Attack!") challenges college teams to manage and protect a commercial network infrastructure from an online attack.
Nine student teams from across the Pacific Northwest will be presented with the network of a fictitious company, including an e-commerce website, that they must operate. Meanwhile, the Red Team will attempt to vandalize and break into these networks and bring them down. The student teams need to defend against the attacks while keeping their services up and running.
Observers will come first to the UW Seattle campus and hear from local and FBI security experts about the real-world threats the competition represents. You'll then be bussed to the competition site on Microsoft's Redmond campus where you will be meet representatives of Microsoft and the UW Information School Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, and observe the students defending their networks from attack.
The event will conclude with an insider's guided bus tour of the Microsoft campus.
The event sponsored is by the Microsoft Corporation and the UW Information School.
