College of Forest Resources Centennial Restoration Ecology Tour

When: Saturday, April 28, 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Where: Union Bay Natural Area - Lot E-5 - View Map
Contact: Kern Ewing, kern@u.washington.edu, 206-543-4426

The tour will be conducted by Professor Kern Ewing. We will walk Wahkiakum Lane and look at some of the restoration sites that have been completed since 1990. We will talk about the plants that will grow on the Union Bay Natural Area, the ecology of the site, what our philosophy of restoration is, and the history of that part of Lake Washington. Adding the Arboretum and its environs, this area is the second largest remaining natural watershed along Lake Washington, and has a very important impact on salmon and other aquatic resources in Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish.

We're meeting in the Northeast corner of Lot E-5.
Follow signs off Mary Gates Memorial Drive on the NE end of campus to Parking Lot E-5 in the Union Bay Natural Area for this tour. The lot is at the end of Douglas Road where it meets with Wahkiakum Lane. Parking is free in Lot E-5.
