Did you know that wood and trees make sounds? Students, teachers, kids, alumni, prospective college transfers, friends and family, stop by and see a demonstration of the newest tools used for evaluating wood quality with acoustic sampling. Acoustic sampling, or the speed at which sound travels through wood, gives us the stiffness in standing trees and logs, important for producers of lumber and pulp and paper to aid in identifying the best use for their trees.
